Assistive technology is the use of technological resources that benefit students with special needs. There are mulitple resources that are useful. One resource that I think that is very beneficial is TeacherVision. This site allows a teacher to creat lesson plans, quizzes, graphic organizers and others that are inclusive to any student. This will allow teacher's to teach in a organized manner, as well as addressing student's with special needs but keeping them in a mainstream classroom.
Another resourceful source is an online self timer. This tool can help those with ADD or ADHD. It is helpful in managing the student's time, as well as making sure they are using their time wisely and efficiently, rather than getting off task. This tool allows you to time your self counting up,or count down; therefore, if you need to be done by a certain time, it will let you know when your time is ending soon. Also, by setting it for a certain amount of time, it will make one be productive until that time is up.
Lastly, another tool that I think is beneficial are mouse tools. This tool pro
vides text citations for spoken dialouge. It allows students with reading comprehension disorders or listening disabilities to hear, and read the information provided. This is very beneficial because there are multiple types of learners; those who learn visually, would not benefit by listening to the information given, and those who learn verbally, will not benefit by reading information. This site addresses both types of learners, as well as those with learning disabilities.
